How do screens shape us so powerfully? What are the lies technology tells us? In this session, Kathy helps us think carefully about technology so that we can navigate it well.
Session 2: Entertainment – Amusing Ourselves to Death
[John Stonestreet]
We live in an entertainment culture, where what is displayed on the screen influences what we value and how we live. In this session, John opens our eyes to the power of entertainment and how we can live with discernment.
Session 3: The Impact of Social Media
[Jonathan Morrow]
Social media has a powerful influence on not only our youth, but on adults as well. In this session, Jonathan unpacks the subtle (and not so subtle) ways that social media influences us and provides practical ways to navigate this challenge.
Session 4: Developing a Family Technology Plan
[Brett Kunkle]
How do we guide our families through a world of omnipresent screens? In this session, Brett provides practical steps that can be implemented in any family.
Breakout Session 1 – Preparing Our Kids for a Sexually Broken Culture
[John Stonestreet]
From every angle, students today are sold a vision of sexuality and relationships that is toxic and deadly. The “talk” that all parents dread has to be more of a conversation, and it’s never been more important. In this session, you’ll gain insight into the cultural setting we live in and learn practical ways to help students face it with courage and conviction.
Breakout Session 2 – Motivation Matters—Start with the Heart
[Kathy Koch]
It’s vital to understand how and why your relationship and character development are the foundation of motivation, especially as we influence our children and youth. But what should we focus on and what beliefs do we emphasize? In this session, you’ll learn the four roles you must play, how to respond when kids are frustrated, and how to compliment and correct effectively.
